Facebook love affair ends in trial in Dubai

Dubai: Love over Facebook and a passport is what got them into troubled waters.
A housemaid and worker landed in court on Thursday for having consensual sex at the villa of the housemaid’s sponsor after they fell in love on Facebook.

The Filipina housemaid and the Pakistani worker jointly admitted that their love flowered when they met on Facebook.
“We chatted for two weeks on Facebook and fell in love. She provided me with her contact number… I called her and then she helped me sneak into her sponsor’s villa , where we had sex,” claimed the 23-year-old Pakistani, I.A., when he was questioned by prosecutors.

Records said the couple were exposed by the villa’s cook, who spotted I.A. sneaking out of the 27-year-old Filipina N.S.’s bedroom around 3:15am.

The cook brawled with I.A. in an attempt to trap him, according to prosecution records. I.A. was said to have pushed the cook down on the ground and jumped over the villa’s wall before he broke free.

Police identified I.A. after his passport fell off from his pocket when he jumped over the fence.
According to the chargesheet, prosecutors accused N.S. and I.A. of having sex outside marriage. I.A. was additionally charged of trespassing into the villa after N.S. aided and abetted him. She was said to have invited him over after the sponsor and his family went to bed. A second Filipina housemaid, 31-year-old D.D., was also accused of aiding and abetting I.A. to trespass into the villa.

“Yes sir, I had consensual sex with I.A. but I didn’t aid him to trespass into my sponsor’s villa,” argued N.S. at the Dubai Misdemeanor Court on Thursday.

I.A. stunned courtroom nine when he denied having consensual sex with N.S. although he had confessed during prosecution questioning. His lawyer asked the judge to adjourn the case until she prepares her defence.

Police records said the cook informed his Emirati sponsor that he spotted I.A. leaving the bedroom after midnight and handed him the lost passport.

When asked by her sponsor, N.S. admitted that she invited her lover to have sex with him.

During police questioning, I.A. denied having had consensual sex with the maid but admitted trespassing.

He told police interrogators that N.S. opened the door for him and they chatted for ten minutes during which they discussed their love affair and she asked him to marry her.

“I told her that I was already engaged to a Pakistani woman… and could not marry her. Then the cook spotted us, so I ran away and my passport fell from my pocket when I jumped over the fence,” the Pakistani defendant claimed during police questioning.
When questioned by prosecutors, I.A. retracted his statement alleging that he was afraid of the police when he denied that he slept with the Filipina.

D.D. failed to attend Thursday’s hearing.

“I fell in love with him two weeks after we met on Facebook. My colleague used to assist me in allowing I.A. to sneak into the villa. We had sex two times at my sponsor’s house without his consent or knowledge,” N.S. claimed to prosecutors.
