Dubai: A supervisor faces six months in jail for molesting a female accountant.
The Dubai Court of First Instance found the 24-year-old Indian guilty of following the 23-year-old Filipina accountant from a grocery store and trespassing into her bedroom where he molested her.
The court said the accused would be deported after serving his punishment.
Presiding Judge Fahmi Mounir also referred the accused to the Dubai Court of Misdemeanours where he will be prosecuted for consuming liquor.
The accused K.S. pleaded not guilty to molesting 23-year-old M.M, but confessed to having alcohol and trespassing.
When asked by the judge why he walked into the bedroom, the defendant claimed M.M. had smiled at him and he thought she had wanted him to follow.
The claimant said: "When I walked out of the bathroom and took off my clothes, I heard a noise from the side of the curtains but my roommate didn't reply
"I was shocked to see the defendant sitting in his underwear. Suddenly he attacked me and groped me. I screamed, pushed him away and covered myself with a towel. Then my roommates gathered outside the bedroom."
Records said the building's guardsmen stopped the defendant from escaping and handed him over to the police.
The judgment is still subject to appeal within 15 days.
